We will support an inclusive environment, in which individuals can maximize their self-sufficiency, belong to a community effort, and achieve their own measure of success.

Paperworks
started as a Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District program, providing vocational training for young adults with special needs. Many of the papermaking processes have been adapted to allow the more physically or cognitively impaired to perform the work. Higher functioning individuals act as mentors, allowing learning on both ends of the spectrum... patience and teamwork on one end, necessary support and camaraderie on the other. Vocational experiences expand into personal growth.

The enormous success of the program, and the popularity of the products, led us to establishing Paperworks Studio, a community-based, non-profit business. This operation serves a critically unmet need in our community - meaningful employment for adults who have historically been dismissed from the world of work.

The two programs now partner to manufacture premium art papers made with pride. Products are a result of individuals with special needs making a difference in their world. Many materials used in production are recycled. When you purchase Paperworks products, you have become a part of the recycling process, purchased a work of handmade art, and supported diversity & inclusion in education & employment. Thank you for making a difference.
